JUNE - Once again, on behalf of Brentwood U3A, Bob and Annette Dwyer-Joyce hosted an afternoon of Music in the Garden while Mark and Leslie Janes provided a Hog Roast meal. Members enjoyed a selection of songs from the shows and a wide variety of other music provided by a trio from the Brentwood Operatic Society. As can be seen from the photos below the afternoon started well and spirits were high as warm sunshine graced the proceedings, but dark clouds began to gather, thunder and lightning became evident and by the end of the first half of the entertainment, and just in time for members to partake of the food, the clouds opened up and a deluge made it somewhat uncomfortable for members to cross the garden to reach the table where the food was being served. Bob did sterling work offering a shuttle service with his large umbrella. The rain eventually stopped and the trio were able to continue with the final half of their performance.
