AUGUST - The very best yet! Close to 100 members were entertained by Oyster Opera a duo who sang a selection of arias from popular operas in what has to be the most perfect setting ~ Bob and Annette Dwyer-Joyce's garden. The weather, too, could not have been improved on with warm sunshine lasting right on until dusk. During the interval the members were treated to a delicious selection of meats, pies and fresh salmon, the latter prepared by Barbara Dennehy, and to follow a wonderful choice of desserts brought by some of the members. It was a memorable evening and many members expressed their admiration of Annette's organisational skills. It is no mean feat to bring everything together, as Annette did, so that everybody present could totally enjoy the evening. We are indebted to her. Pictured below: The duo begin their performance. Among the pictures members relax in the warm summer evening sunshine, our Chairman demonstrates a little nifty footwork and a charming study of Bob and Annette's grandchildren who held up enlarged words for members to sing along with the duo. Also pictured is Annette about to take a break after everybody else had been served. (Report and photos: Brian Leith)
