Sussex Outing

MAY - On a warm, sunny morning nearly 50 members set off by coach for Sussex. The first stop was for coffee in a pretty little village called Bramber. Here in the gardens of the local hostelry members relaxed in the sunshine before setting off for Goring where a visit had been arranged to see the remarkable ceiling (a perfect replica of the Sistine Chapel) in the Catholic church. Gary Bevans untrained as an artist spent more than five years of his spare time creating this most stunning piece of work. Back on the coach and on to Worthing for lunch. Here members were free to spend some time in this pleasant seaside town. The next stop was at the many buttressed Gothic chapel at Lancing College. On then to Shoreham airport where the group enjoyed tea and cake. The unspoiled art deco airport often appears in such period pieces as "Miss Marples" and "Poirot" as well as big production films. A very interesting day.
